Prescott, Az.

In 1864 the first territorial governor of Arizona built a mansion at the site of present day Prescott, Arizona. Soon gold was discovered in the area and a town grew up around the mansion. Prescott served as the territorial capital for two time periods. Finally in 1889 Phoenix was established as the capital. Prescott is a town surrounded by mining and ranching enterprises. The courthouse has several statues in dedication to this heritage.
